With waters that are rarely deeper than 6
feet, and only a few inches deep in many areas, the variety of fish is
truly amazing.
Offshore Fishing: Your Offshore fishing trip in the Florida Keys is as exciting a trip as you'll find anywhere in the world. Your trip will start early in the day (half and 3/4 days available also) usually around 7am, your captain will spell out the plan for the day based on his extensive knowledge of the local and seasonal conditions, he will also get your input on what you'd like to fish for that day, something rare in charter fishing elseware in the U.S. The reefline of the Florida Keys is only 3 miles offshore, passing the reef you can see the vibrant colors through the crystal clear water, you may even be able to make out coral heads and individual fish. Depending on the decision made by you and your captain,
you may stop inshore of the reef to get a well full of live bait, and possibly stop at the reef for some bottom fishing for Snapper and Grouper. Offshore deep sea fishing there are many species including Dolphin (a.k.a. Mahi-Mahi), Sailfish, Marlin, Tuna, Wahoo and many more. The world famous Islamorada Hump is only 13 miles offshore and holds an abundant variety of fish. This is a true fisherman's paradise allowing the fishermen and families to relax, and the Whale Harbor Marina in Islamorada is at the center of it all!
Catch and release fishing is offered on all
boats, however, you are allowed to keep all of your catch based on
seasonal regulations. Your Captain will clean your catch for you, and
put it in bags.
